Journalists and Writers

We are actively seeking news articles, features and papers related to Advanced Vehicles manufactured by North American auto manufacturers.  The topics can range from issues related to the automotive industry, unions, advancements, auto shows, customer experiences, supplier experiences, auto review, and any other topic that would be of interest to our audience.

As a startup we are limited in funds.  Our intent is to solicit news and features in two ways as we gain advertising with increases in payouts to journalists and writers as we progress.  As active members of the National Writers Union (UAW Local 1981), it is our objective to increase rates to a level recognized by the NWU as site income allows.  Our part is to work towards meeting that commitment, we are asking for high quality articles and support to get us there.

So, here is how we are going to do it as we work our way to that goal:

News articles would be submitted with a 30 day global exclusive license to SUCCESS by DESIGN®.  If the articles pass our editorial review, they will be posted on an individual page with a counter.  At the end of each calendar month, the article with the largest number unique views (as tallied by our server, so the counter may not reflect actual views if someone refreshes or repeatedly visits the page, the server tally will) in one day during the calendar month will receive a $100USD prize.  If multiple articles receive the same number of views, the prize money will be split between the associated writers.  As these are web news postings, we recommend a word count of about 500 Words.  When submitted, the news article MUST contain your contact information, including mailing address, and let us know if you want your name, affiliation, and email address included in your byline.  SUCCESS by DESIGN® and AllAmericanHybrid.com reserves the right to pull any article at any time and to reject articles for any reason.  This is an open solicitation and must include a copy of the Copyright Release form (scanned or faxed to 860 577-8537), which discusses the license.  If the article is not selected, the release is null and void.  All information must be sent to editor@allamericanhybrid.com.  AllAmericanHybrid.com and SUCCESS by DESIGN® are not responsible for email issues.

Feature Articles for the Monthly Newsletter, AllAmericanHybrid.com, and the website.  Recommended at approximately 1500 words (quality is more important than word count).  Send a topic suggestion to editor@allamericanhybrid.com or completed feature along with the Copyright Release form, as above.  If selected by our editorial staff, the author will be awarded $100USD.  All information to be sent should be the same as the News Articles, as outlined above, as well as any disclaimers.  The first Newsletter will be sent February 4, 2009 and then the first Tuesday of every month thereafter, subject to vacations and optimal times to get reader attention.

• Any articles submitted, or posted, by AllAmericanHybrid.com staff or associated SUCCESS by DESIGN® staff, and their families, does not count in either competition.  We like to write, too!
• Article Preference will be given to National Writer Union (http://www.nwu.org) members, automotive and supplier employees, automotive union members, and dealerships (we want to hear about your experiences selling Advanced Vehicles!).  However, all writers and journalists are welcome with scores and prizes NOT being weighted by affiliation.  Overseas writers with experience with North American advanced vehicles in their country, or issues getting them into their countries are allowed and encouraged.
• All articles submitted must be in Word (up through 2007), RTF, text, or compatible, with images being in .jpg or .tiff, with a recommendation of a resolution of 96dpi and print size of 3x5 inches (larger is OK, if appropriate).
• I am sure we will think of a few more things as time goes on - so we reserve the right to change the terms at any time with 30 days notice on the website.

DUE DATES

News articles: We will take them as they are received and time allows.  The contest starts each month, until canceled 30 days in advance, at 12:01am EST on the first of each month and ends at 12:00pm EST on the last day of each month.  The totals are tallied within the first ten days and awards sent by the last day of the month following the posting of the article.

Feature Articles: Are due by the 15th of each month for the following month.  The initial plan is to publish only one feature per month, subject to change.  If more than one is selected, AllAmericanHybrid.com reserves the right to contact the author(s) to schedule a future publishing date.  All payments are made by the end of the month that the feature is published.  In March, 2009, we will publish recommended features for the remainder of the year.
